About Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL)

LLNL is managed by the University of California (UC), and is one of the national laboratories of the Department of Energy (DOE). It is located about 50 miles east of San Francisco, in Livermore, California. Its mission includes defense, environment, energy, lasers, basic scientific research, biotechnology, and technology transfer. The Laboratory currently employs about 8,000 people.
